Flip Flops

I mispoke previous g-mail, said flip flops were invented sometime in the 60's, they were "renamed" from previous name "tongs" at around that time. Not certain, I believe they were called shower clogs prior to that. Clogs consisted of a wooden platorm that looked like the profile of the foot with a canvas sleeve which fit over the instep of the foot. Now the record is corect.

Speaking of flip flops, in the last g-mail I stated there was a spike in unemployment in 12/10 from data reported 01.06.11. What the WH or the BLM reported on 01.07.11 was there a drastic dropped in unemployment (from 9.8% to 9.4%). How can that be? Quite simply, you lob off the tens of thousands of people at the end of the year who dropped out of the job search and there 99 weeks ran out. Probably the real number is more like 20% of Americans unemployed or under-employed. Another non-reported and perhaps unattainable data, is how many people in the cottage industry were affected during the Great Recession?

The meager 103K of newly employed, as reported by PP yesterday, is but a drop in the bucket, but it going in the right track? Oh really??? At that rate it would take 20 years to get back to full employment of 94%. At 350K it will take 6 years.

Another unreported fact, the US deployed another contingent of marines to Afghanistan this week. That approaches the original request of 40,000 troops. PP is no Alexander the Great either. You have to ask yourself how many troops perished because the forces needed were held back in the surge of 2010, for political reasons.

On the home front...parents with children applying for new passport will not long be referred to a father and mother, rather Parent #1 and Parent #2 as directed by State Department. Figures when you asks the next question. Who is the Secretary of State?
